Twigg and Kavanagh doubtful for Rovers
Shamrock Rovers will be looking for a victory against Cork City at Tallaght Stadium tonight to keep them on top of the Premier Division table (kick-off 8pm).
Rovers have doubts about the availability of Gary Twigg (thigh) and Paddy Kavanagh (hamstring). Otherwise the Hoops are at full strength.
Hoops boss Michael O’Neill said: “We’re hopeful that the two lads come into contention, but we’re in a situation where we probably don’t need to take unnecessary risks.
“It’ll be a tough game. The three games between us this season have all been drawn, and there’s been very little between the teams. We’d expect it be a very competitive game.
“They’re the only team we haven’t beaten yet in the league so it would be nice to get the win against them this time around. That’s certainly the objective as far as we’re concerned.”
For City, Danny Murphy returns from suspension, but Dan Connor, Joe Gamble and Timmy Kiely all remain sidelined with knee injuries.
Rebels boss Paul Doolin said: “We were fortunate that Derry suffered a defeat also, and that has now happened twice that both sides have lost, but one of us will pick up a result soon and there won’t be time for the other to catch them, so it is important we pick up a result tomorrow.”
