Bermingham back for Rovers
Shamrock Rovers will be looking to go back to the top of the table when they take on Drogheda United at Tallaght Stadium tonight (kick-off 7pm).
Ian Bermingham returns to the Rovers squad, while there are doubts about the availability of Gary Twigg (thigh), Paddy Kavanagh (hamstring) and Pat Flynn (flu).
Hoops boss Michael O’Neill said: “Ian is fit, and it’s more a question of whether his lack of match practice will be a factor. Twiggy, Paddy and Pat all face late fitness tests.
“In a 10-team league you’re rarely going to get a game with nothing at stake.
"They’ve been fighting all season, and have given us some very tough games in the league and the FAI Cup.
“We will, of course, treat them with the utmost respect. They’ve got a very good spirit, and we know that we’ll have to be on our best form if we’re to come away with the three points.”
For Drogheda, Robbie Martin returns to the squad for and United’s only injury worry is long-term absentee Robbie Farrell.
Scott Gibb picked up a knock while with the Northern Ireland U-21's but is expected to be fit.
United boss Alan Mathews said: "All we can do is look to improve our performances.
"We have been to Tallaght twice this year, both tough games. It has been a good year for Rovers, both on and off the field.
"We will do what we have been doing all year and that is work hard and that is what we'll do on Saturday."
