Moyes looks forward
Everton boss David Moyes believes the injury-time penalty which gave them victory yesterday over Wigan will kick-start their season.
The Toffees won 2-1 at Goodison Park thanks to Leighton Baines’ spot-kick against his former club, after Jo had been tripped by Emmerson Boyce.
Earlier an abrasive Wigan, who had six bookings, had taken the lead thanks to a Paul Scharner header, only for Louis Saha to equalise with a header from Baines’ corner.
But the hosts had to wait to the final seconds for their first league win of the season.
With Moyes hoping to tie-up a £5m move for Atletico Madrid defender Johnny Heitinga today, the Everton manager was relieved with the side’s first points of the campaign.
Moyes said on Heitinga: “We have agreed a fee but not personal terms, I am hoping we can get around to that.”
