The majority of the Cork City players owed money this week were paid in the last 24 hours and the rest will have the cash in their bank accounts later today.

Mark McNulty, Dan Connor, Danny Murphy and skipper Dan Murray were paid their July arrears and the rest of the squad will be sorted today.

The money they have been paid is their July wages and they are still four weeks in arrears — as they are due their August salaries today.

There is still a threat of some form of player action at Saturday’s Setanta Cup opener with Cliftonville when the City team may decide to delay the kick-off with a sit-in protest.

The holders have no suspensions and no major injury worries ahead of the game and expect to have Timmy Kiely back from a bout of flu.

Cork City probable team: McNulty; O’Halloran, Long. Murray, Murphy; O’Neill, Gamble, Lordan, Dennehy; Kuduzovic, Cambridge or Silagailis.
