St Ledger in team to face Australia

Giovanni Trapattoni will give Preston's Sean St Ledger a start against Australia in their friendly at Thomond Park tomorrow.

The Ireland manager has named a strong team to face the Socceroos, but still has to decide on who will start alongside Glenn Whelan in the middle of the pitch.

He indicated that he favours Manchester United's Darron Gibson, but said that Keith Andrews of Blackburn has a chance of starting there also.

He explained that he might prefer Gibson for Andrews because he feels this game is important for the young players.
