Republic of Ireland assistant manager Liam Brady has outlined the importance of the Republic of Ireland’s friendly against Australia on Wednesday, by saying that the match will act as good preparation for the World Cup qualifier in Cyprus next month.

Speaking after the team trained in St Michael’s in Tipperary today, Brady said that they will play the bulk of the team on Wednesday that should be expected to start against Cyprus.

Brady said: “It’s a great chance for us to try out the team that will play against Cyprus, I am sure the manager is thinking that way.

“That is the way he has been speaking anyway in the last couple of days. We are going to have a team that will be largely the team that will face Cyprus in September.”

Brady also praised the pitch and facilities in Tipperary and looked forward to playing at Thomond.
