Gamble next to move from City

Joe Gamble could the latest player in the exodus from Cork City as the club prepares to restructure its operations.

Cork City aces Colin Healy, Denis Behan and Pat Sullivan have already left Leeside in recent weeks as the club battled with a winding-up order due to money owed to the Revenue, and while they survived, the club will have to trim its wage bill.

Gamble is being tracked again by several cross-channel clubs and domestic teams and, for the first time last night after City lost 1-0 away to Bohs, he admitted he had to consider his future.

“It’s coming to a head now and realistically the club is being forced to make a lot of changes and may even go part-time,” he explained.

“I have to look at my own future and I can’t afford to have an operation now if I am going to leave or if I am going to be on the move.

“I have no other choice and that’s the reason I am playing through the pain barrier because I need to get myself fit. If the club goes forward, I would love to be a part of it, but somehow, I don’t think I will be here much longer,” said the Cork man.
