Kenny: Ballymun deserve respect

Derry City should comfortably progress to the next round of the FAI Ford Cup as they welcome non-league Dublin side Ballymun United to the Brandywell tonight, kick-off 7.45pm.

City boss Stephen Kenny will be able to name a strong side for the visit of the non-league side although he must plan without Tam McManus (calf), Liam Kearney (broken leg), Barry Molloy (ankle), Thomas Stewart (thigh) and Stephen Gray (hip) through injury.

Kenny said: "The team have been playing well of late. We've kept four clean sheets in a row, which is a positive and obviously we would like that to continue.

“Ballymun deserve respect and are having a good season themselves so our attitude needs to be good if we are to progress.

“It's encouraging that we have been creating lots of chances recently and we would like to build on a good away win in the league last week, so hopefully that form will see us through to the next round."
