Three men pleaded guilty today to indecent chanting at a football match.

A total of 11 men, including three juveniles, have appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court for alleged racist and homophobic chanting.

The charges relate to chants made at Portsmouth defender Sol Campbell during a match against Tottenham at Fratton Park, Portsmouth, on September 28 last year.

Richard Gibbs, aged 36, of Ormonde Road, Wokingham, Berkshire, Stuart Turner, aged 34, of Queen Street, Wellington, Telford, Shropshire, and Oliver Silvester, aged 28, of High Street, Southampton, all pleaded guilty to indecent chanting.

Dean Nelson, aged 23, of Southbury Road, Enfield, north London, Joe Turner, aged 18, of The Lindons, Langdon Hills, Basildon, Essex, and Bradley Barnes, aged 35, of Malmesbury Park Road, Bournemouth, Dorset, have pleaded not guilty to the charge of indecent chanting.
