Rangers appeal Papac dismissal

Rangers have confirmed they will appeal the red card received by Sasa Papac during Saturday’s 3-1 win over Falkirk in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League.

Rangers have confirmed they will appeal the red card received by Sasa Papac during Saturday’s 3-1 win over Falkirk in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League.

The full-back was dismissed for a foul on substitute Mark Stewart on the half-way line, in a match where Falkirk’s Patrick Cregg was also sent off.

Papac was shown a straight red card for serious foul play but manager Walter Smith believes referee William Collum got the decision wrong.

He told the club’s official website, www.rangers.co.uk: “The referee felt there was no intent to play the ball but, when you see it, there was.

“It was a left-sided player on the right side of the pitch and he put his left leg across but committed a foul.”
