Redknapp dismayed by Ince dismissal
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp believes Paul Ince was treated unfairly at Blackburn and has called for chairmen to have more patience with young managers.
Ince lasted 17 Barclays Premier League games at Ewood Park and has been replaced by Sam Allardyce.
âI was disappointed to see Paul Ince go and think it is totally unfair,â said Redknapp. "What time has he had? A couple of bad results and he is out.
âIn the summer he was a great manager, now he is not a great manager if results donât go right. They have had a few injuries and have got some good fixtures coming up where he could have turned it around.
âPeople have to be strong and the chairmen have to be strong. They bring the manager in and they should back him.
âIncey would have turned it around and he would have got them up to a respectable position in the league. He just needed time and obviously wasnât given time.â
Redknapp feels a foreign manager would have fared no better than Ince.
âWe always end up giving young English managers a job where they are coming into a struggling team,â Redknapp added. âThey never get a chance to manage one of the top clubs.
âPeople have got to be brave enough to give them the opportunity. He did it right and started at the rock-bottom, that is no disrespect to Macclesfield, but he went to a team who were bottom of the league and did fantastically.
âHe went to MK Dons and then got a chance which he dreamed of managing in the Premier League and in the matter of a few months he is now out of work. I think it is unfair and Incey has got a lot to offer. Hopefully he will bounce back again.â
