Keogh keeping focus

Wolves striker Andy Keogh believes the Coca-Cola Championship leaders should take it one game at a time as they bid to tighten their grip on automatic promotion.

Wolves lead midlands rivals Birmingham by three points ahead of tomorrow’s visit of Barnsley and Keogh claims the leaders must concentrate only on the next game and not think of getting back in the Barclays Premier League.

The Ireland striker said: “We’re just looking to Barnsley on Saturday – let’s win that one. We’ve proved how we can play in this league.

“People know what we can do but we’re just taking every game as it comes and it’s up to us to keep standards as high as they have been.”

Keogh also believes his role in the 3-0 win over Derby, which took Wolves to 50 points for the season so far, has given manager Mick McCarthy a selection headache.

With Chris Iwelumo expected to recover from a slight ankle knock McCarthy has to decide between him and Keogh to partner Sylvan Ebanks-Blake up front.

Keogh added in the Express & Star: “The manager has a dilemma. It was nice just to get a start because I’ve been doing a job for the team, trying to contribute.

“Hopefully I contributed on Tuesday night – we got a win, so I couldn’t have been that bad.”
