Portsmouth were hoping for an improved defensive display as Tottenham visited Fratton Park today.

The south-coast club have conceded 10 goals in the last two games and boss Harry Redknapp was given a boost with the return of captain and former Tottenham centre-half Sol Campbell.

Midfield playmaker Lassana Diarra passed a fitness test and Redknapp also gave former Reading winger Glen Little a debut in the Premier League clash, in place of John Utaka.

Bottom-of-the-table Tottenham had problems of their own with Gareth Bale joining their injured list. Manager Juande Ramos decided to put top-scorer Darren Bent on the bench alongside fit-again Luka Modric, and handed recalls to David Bentley, Gilberto and Michael Dawson.
