Scolari waits on injury reports

Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari will on Monday find out the extent of injuries to Deco and Ricardo Carvalho following the 1-1 draw with Manchester United.

Deco picked up an apparent groin problem in the warm-up at Stamford Bridge, then Carvalho damaged his knee early on, with Scolari admitting losing the pair had a significant role in Chelsea's poor start to the match.

After Ji-Sung Park had put United ahead, it needed Salomon Kalou's header 10 minutes from time to extend Chelsea's unbeaten home record in the league to 85 matches.

Scolari, however, cares more about winning the Premier League title than the amazing home run that stretches back to 2004.

"For me, the record is nothing. The record is whether we win the championship - it might mean something for the fans but not for me." the Brazilian said.

With Michael Essien sidelined already, Scolari is poised to sign Mineiro as midfield cover and Chelsea could announce his signing later today.

"Mineiro is a player I need because I lost Essien for six months and only John Mikel Obi is there for us," Scolari explained.

"He won't play this week but maybe after 10 days he will play.

"He needs to play in the reserve team and needs some time but that is good for me because he gives me some options."

United boss Alex Ferguson was left to rue a missed opportunity after failing to kill off Chelsea.

"We played with great tempo in the first 20 minutes," Ferguson said.

"The real shame was that we didn't go for the jugular at 1-0 up. We had control of the match at that point but we eased off and allowed them to get to half-time."

Ferguson also lost goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar to a knee injury, with Tomasz Kuszczak coming on.

By that time, United were ahead after Park's opener, tapping in after Petr Cech had parried Dimitar Berbatov's shot into his path.

"It was disappointing to only get one point," Park said.

"In the first half we played well and created good chances - but we only had the one goal."

Scolari sent on Didier Drogba at the break to partner Nicolas Anelka, while Ferguson used Cristiano Ronaldo off the bench.

With 10 minutes remaining, Obi's free-kick was headed in by Kalou to earn a point.

Scolari added: "They have a fantastic spirit. I said before the game. Michael Ballack had maybe 45 minutes in him and Didier Drogba 45 minutes.

"Michael played 70 minutes because of his spirit and he wants to win. He gave more than I expected.

"I have many problems in terms of injuries and I have to change the team but that is my job."
