Kean ponders bid for Cork City control
Celebrity solicitor Gerald Kean has not ruled out getting involved in Cork City.
Speaking from Italy where he is on holiday last night Kean told the Evening Echo newspaper that an approach had been made to him.
“Let me stress nobody from Cork City football club has contacted me, but I was approached by a third party asking me would I be interested in taking over at Cork City,” Gerald Kean said.
“I made out a list of queries that I wanted answered, but up to now I have not received an answer to any of them.
“Football is a funny game, look at Manchester City a fortnight ago, they were struggling to pay wages, but this week they are possibly the richest club in Europe.
“As a Corkman I would be saddened if Cork were to lose its football club, so it was natural to me to react to the question that was put to me, but the ball is not in my court,” concluded Kean.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Michael Flatley, who is also out of the country at this moment in time stated today that the ‘Lord of the Dance’ was invited to the home league game with Bray Wanderers, but he was unable to attend.
Flatley remains a big fan of the club and wishes them all the best in the future endeavors, but at this moment in time, contrary to rumours, he is not about to become financially involved in the club.
City face Derry on Friday night at Turner’s Cross at 7.45pm.
