Rangers dropped their first points of the season amid controversy as Aberdeen once again proved to be an unhappy hunting ground in the SPL.

David Weir opened the scoring but his header was cancelled out by Derek Young, before DaMarcus Beasley controversially had a goal ruled offside late in the game.

Rangers had hoped to make amends for the defeat at the same venue on the final day of last season which killed off their championship hopes – instead they were forced to settle for a share of the spoils.
