Neville captains United in Community Shield
Gary Neville made his long-awaited comeback for Manchester United as he led the Champions League winners in their Community Shield duel with Portsmouth at Wembley.
It was Neville’s first domestic game since breaking an ankle against Bolton in March 2007, the England man featuring in a strong United back four.
Michael Carrick was on the bench for the injury-hit Red Devils, while £11m Peter Crouch partnered Jermain Defoe in attack for FA Cup winners Pompey.
