Wyness quits Everton

Everton have announced that chief executive Keith Wyness has resigned.

Everton have announced that chief executive Keith Wyness has resigned.

The club issued a short one-sentence statement late last night to confirm his sudden departure.

It read: “Everton Football Club wishes to announce that Keith Wyness has resigned his position as chief executive officer and director of the club.”

Wyness had been the driving force behind the club’s plans to relocate to a new 50,000-capacity stadium in Kirby.

Planning consent has been received but a government decision on whether or not to “call in” the project is expected this week.

Wyness had previously voiced fears that calling it in could jeopardise the plans.

The proposals to move to Kirby, which is outside the Liverpool city boundaries, have caused anger among some supporters.
