Rovers hold St Pat's to a draw
St Patrick's Athletic 1 Shamrock Rovers 1
St Patrick's Athletic moved a point clear of nearest rival Bohemians in the race for the Premier Division title when held to a draw by Shamrock Rovers in a tense Dublin derby at Richmond Park tonight.
St Pat's had the perfect start on six minutes when Mark Quigley scored his 13th league goal of the season with a shot on the turn from 14 yards after Keith Fahey had created the opening on the right.
The home side were on the offensive with a Gary Dempsey free from 20 yards hitting a wall of defenders after a foul by Barry Ferguson on Quigley.
The Hoops were level on 75 minutes when in a crowded goalmouth Danny O'Connor scuffed a shot from four yards.
Keeper Barry Ryan did manage to get in a block but could not prevent Padraig Amond from heading home the rebound.
