Wigan have confirmed that Sweden international Andreas Granqvist has joined Dutch club Groningen.
The 23-year-old defender spent the second half of last season on loan at his former club Helsingborgs.
His last appearance in the Premier League was as a late substitute in the 5-3 victory over Blackburn in December, although he did play the full 90 minutes in the FA Cup win at Sunderland in January.
