Brazilian star Robinho is the latest name to be linked with a move to Chelsea with the pulling power of new boss Luiz Felipe Scolari apparently proving influential.

The Blues, who have tied defender Wayne Bridge to a new contract, are reported to have offered Real Madrid £47.8m on for the forward, something they have denied.

Robinho is dismayed by plans to include him a deal to take Cristiano Ronaldo to the Bernabeu and his agent Wagner Ribeiro admits the 24-year-old is becoming restless.

“What’s making Robinho seriously consider accepting Chelsea’s offer is that Scolari helped him a lot when he wasn’t very well known in Europe,” Ribeiro told Brazilian website Globoesporte.com.

“Scolari called him up to play a game in Basle, between the Friends of Ronaldo and Friends of Zidane in 2003. Scolari spoke to Robinho and gave him strength.

“Madrid is one of the best cities in the world to live in. In other words Robinho has it all.

“The only unpleasant thing is the club’s assessment of his value, and he feels undervalued for having become a part of some trade deal.”

Bridge’s decision to commit himself to Chelsea until 2012 has ended speculation over a possible £5m move to Portsmouth.

“I’m just happy. I love it at Chelsea – the lads, the staff, everybody. I’m happy to be here, hopefully for the next four years,” said Bridge.

Bridge has made 130 appearances for Chelsea since arriving from Southampton for £7m in 2003.

The 27-year-old started just nine games last season as he continued his battle for the left-back duties with club and international colleague Ashley Cole.

However, the rivalry with Cole and his place in the pecking order has not diminished his enthusiasm for life at Stamford Bridge, something new manager Scolari can attest to.

Scolari said: “I have been here only a few days but have seen that he is one of the best professionals at the club. I very much like his playing style.”
