Furman rules out Maccabi move

Rangers midfielder Dean Furman has dismissed claims from Maccabi Tel Aviv that he could soon join the Israeli club.

Furman, 19, was identified as a target for Maccabi by the club’s general manager Avi Nimni who claimed a free transfer deal was a possibility.

However Furman told The Herald: “I’ve had people phoning and texting me about stories saying I’m leaving Rangers but it’s all news to me.”

Furman will spend time in Israel on holiday but denied Nimni’s suggestion he would meet with officials from Maccabi to discuss a move.

“There’s nothing in it,” Furman said. “I’ve certainly no plans to meet anyone from that club when I head out there.”

Furman, who was born in South Africa, has a year remaining on his Rangers contract and made his first-team debut against Dundee United last month.
