Mancini 'very happy' at Inter

Roberto Mancini’s advisor has denied his client is in talks with Chelsea and insists he is intent on leading Internazionale to a fourth successive Serie A crown.

Mancini’s name has been linked with the vacancy at Stamford Bridge, created by Saturday’s sacking of Avram Grant, with the rumours given credence by suggestions the former Italy striker is unsettled at Inter.

But while his representative Maurizio De Giorgis admitted Chelsea were one of the “top five clubs in the world with a phenomenal president”, he was adamant Mancini will see out the remainder of his contract with the Nerazzurri.

“There is no truth whatsoever that there has been contact with Chelsea and there has been no contact with any team other than Inter,” De Giorgis told Sky Sports News.

“That is the real truth. If there are rumours they are unfounded. If there is anybody that went to make noises to Chelsea, it was not authorised by Roberto Mancini.”

Mancini has endured a turbulent season at the San Siro, tendering his resignation in the immediate aftermath of the club’s Champions League elimination by Liverpool in March only to be talked into a rethink by club president Massimo Moratti.

De Giorgis believes Mancini is focused on claiming more silverware in Italy.

He said: “He has a four-year contract with Inter and he is very happy to stay there.

“He just won a third championship and they are also going to try to win a fourth and the Champions League too.”

Speculation has linked Jose Mourinho with Mancini’s job at Inter, with the Portuguese media suggesting the former Chelsea boss could be appointed in the next couple of days.
