Shamrock Rovers have now gone more a month without an eircom League Premier Division win after they lost again tonight, this time to Sligo Rovers at the Showgrounds.

Pat Scully’s men never recovered from an early Brian Cash strike on 19 minutes, his first of the season, and by the end of the game they had shipped another two goals from Mauro Almeida (71 minutes) and Romauld Boco (71 minutes).

It was Almeida’s second goal in as many games for the Bit O’ Red while for the Benin captain, he capped a fine performance in the middle of the park with his second goal of the season also.

Rovers did rally in the final quarter when goals from Eoin Doyle (78 minutes) and Darragh Maguire (90 minutes) brought them back into contention, but in between the strikes Pat Flynn was sent off.
