Alves to start again

Middlesbrough manager Gareth Southgate is expected to name the same team that started the 2-2 draw with Manchester United against Tottenham at White Hart Lane tomorrow.

That means the club’s record £12.7m signing Afonso Alves is set to start again with Turkey international Tuncay Sanli having to make do with a place on the substitutes’ bench.

The Boro boss will be concerned that Robert Huth’s long-running foot injury shows no immediate signs of clearing up though midfielders Mohamed Shawky and Fabio Rochemback are both available after overcoming illnesses.
