Arsenal provide four of the squad members – Gael Clichy, William Gallas, Bacary Sagna and Mathieu Flamini – and Chelsea trio Claude Makelele, Nicolas Anelka and Florent Malouda are also included.

Manchester United duo Patrice Evra and Louis Saha are named along with Portsmouth’s Lassana Diarra.

Former Arsenal duo Patrick Vieira and Thierry Henry, now at Inter Milan and Barcelona respectively, are also in the 39-man squad.
