Striker Andrew Johnson is set to return to Everton’s squad for Sunday’s Barclays Premier League match against Wigan having recovered from the knock he received in training which forced him to miss last week’s victory over Manchester City.

Striker Andrew Johnson is set to return to Everton’s squad for Sunday’s Barclays Premier League match against Wigan having recovered from the knock he received in training which forced him to miss last week’s victory over Manchester City.

Leon Osman, out since mid-December with a broken toe, could also feature in the squad to travel to the JJB while fellow midfielder Manuel Fernandes is available after completing a six-month loan deal at the weekend.

Forward James McFadden is expected to complete his £5m move to Birmingham before the weekend while Joseph Yobo, Ayegbeni Yakubu and Steven Pienaar are all away on African Nations Cup duty.

Provisional squad: Howard, Hibbert, Lescott, Jagielka, Stubbs, Valente, Baines, Arteta, Carsley, Cahill, Neville, Johnson, Anichebe, Vaughan, Wessels, Gravesen, Anderson, Fernandes, Osman.
