Coelho jets in

Brazilian defender Coelho was expected to meet his probable future Celtic team-mates for the first time today after flying into Scotland.

The 24-year-old attacking right-back arrived in Glasgow last night and the club and player will look at each other over the coming week.

Celtic boss Gordon Strachan is looking to increase his defensive options and Coelho’s attacking instincts could mean he also offers cover further up the pitch.

The Corinthians player has been capped once by Brazil, coming off the bench in the 2003 Gold Cup final.

He is unlikely to sign before Andreas Hinkel, the Sevilla full-back, whose move from Spain is believed to be nearing completion.

Germany international Hinkel was also targeted by Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund who have given up hope of persuading the 25-year-old to join them.
