Louis Saha believes wear and tear is to blame for his injury-plagued Manchester United career.

The French striker, who has missed a lot of matches during his four years at Old Trafford, told the News of the World: “Bad luck does not explain everything. Repeated matches wear on the body.

“I have never refused to play,” he stressed. “Each time I have missed a match, it was because I could not play.

“My game is based on speed, requiring rapid changes in direction and push-offs. That demands a lot of the body and it’s a vicious circle. I suffered with my left knee and, in compensating, the right one went.”
