Henry gets all-clear for Rangers clash

Thierry Henry has given Barcelona a huge boost by declaring himself fit to face Rangers next week in the Champions League.

Thierry Henry has given Barcelona a huge boost by declaring himself fit to face Rangers next week in the Champions League.

The French striker had been a doubt for Wednesday’s Nou Camp clash after missing Thursday’s 1-1 draw with Real Valladolid with an Achilles injury.

Tests revealed an inflammation of tissue around his left Achilles tendon following last weekend’s Primera Liga match against Almeria.

But former Arsenal frontman Henry has recovered well and has been passed to play in tomorrow’s league match against Real Betis.

Providing he avoids further problems, the 30-year-old will line up against Walter Smith’s side in four days’ time.

Henry’s compatriot, defender Eric Abidal, has also been recalled by Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard after shrugging off an ankle problem, with Santiago Ezquerro and Gabriel Milito the players to make way for the two Frenchmen.

Rangers and Barcelona share top spot in Group E of the Champions League with seven points from three games, following their goalless draw at Ibrox last month.
