Nigeria coach Berti Vogts has named eight English-based players in his squad to face Australia in an international friendly at Fulham’s Craven Cottage on November 17.
Nigeria are using the game in London to prepare for the African Cup of Nations in Ghana in January.
Jon Obi Mikel (Chelsea), Joseph Yobo (Everton), Kanu, John Utaka (both Portsmouth), Obafemi Martins (Newcastle), Dickson Etuhu (Sunderland), Danny Shittu (Watford) and Seyi Olifinjana (Wolves) have all been included in the 21-man squad.
Vogts said: “This will be our penultimate game before the African Cup of Nations and having the game in London means we can call upon our strongest squad.
“We expect many thousands of Super Eagles fans will back us for this match.”
Everton strikers Victor Anichebe and Yakubu Aiyegbeni are notable absentees from Vogts’ selection.
