Carrick could profit from Scholes' absence

Michael Carrick is expected to be the big winner at Manchester United this season following confirmation Paul Scholes will be out of action for three months with a knee injury.

Scholes will undergo surgery on Thursday after a second scan revealed the 32-year-old suffered ligament damage in right knee during training prior to Tuesday’s Champions League win over Dynamo Kiev.
