Shamrock Rovers moved within five points of Premier Division leaders Drogheda United when goals in each half by Danny O'Connor and Tadhg Purcell gave them victory in tonight's pulsating Dublin derby clash with old rivals Bohemians at Dalymount Park.

Rovers had the perfect start when, following a free in the fifth minute by defender Ger O'Brien on the right, striker Andy Myler flicked on a back-header for midfielder O'Connor to volley the ball home from eight yards through the legs of 'keeper Alan Blaney.

The Hoops stretched their their lead of in the 54th minute when John Martin robbed Jason McGuinness in midfield to lay on a pass for the attacking O'Brien on the right.

His low cross was slid home at the far post by striker Purcell for his 12th league goal of the season.
