Lordan misses out for City
Cork City will be looking for a home win as they take on Longford Town in this evening's eircom League of Ireland Premier Division clash at Turner's Cross, kick-off 7.45pm.
Colm Carroll (cruciate) will not be involved for City as he remains sidelined by injury, although he has now returned to full training and played his first practice match last Saturday.
Michael Devine returns from suspension, while fellow goalkeeper Mark McNulty (knee) has been suffering some pain due to severe bruising to his knee, but was able to play on Monday night and should be fit to continue in goal.
John O’Flynn, Liam Kearney and Brian O’Callaghan are all carrying knocks from Monday’s win over UCD, but it is hoped that all three will be fit to play.
Cillian Lordan has been suffering from a virus all week and remains doubtful, while Darragh Ryan (Pelvis) is set to be out for a number of weeks.
Following a comprehensive 4-1 win over UCD on Monday night, the Rebel Army know that defeating bottom of the league Longford would be a significant boost to their hopes of European qualification through the league.
City are just three points behind Shamrock Rovers and St Patrick’s Athletic who are level in second place, so a victory would keep them very much in the hunt.
Longford will have to plan without their talismanic striker Dave Mooney who is suspended for the game having reached four points.
Otherwise boss Alan Mathews has a full squad to choose from.
