Birmingham chase Celta star

Birmingham are hoping to sign Celta Vigo midfielder Borja Oubina in a loan deal before the transfer window closes at midnight.

Blues boss Steve Bruce confirmed his interest in Oubina after missing out on Peter Luccin who opted to remain at Atletico Madrid.

Bruce said: “We are in talks with the player and we are going to try to sign him tonight.

“He is a creative player who has won two caps for Spain. He was very close to going to Benfica for something like 10 million euros.

“But that deal has hit a few snags so we have jumped in to try to get him on loan but it could go right down to the wire.”
