Jol wants Defoe to sign new deal

Tottenham boss Martin Jol has urged Jermain Defoe to sign a new deal following concerns over the striker eventually departing for free like Sol Campbell.

Jol wants 24-year-old Defoe to stay but is looking for the England international to prove his commitment to Spurs, with an offer possibly putting the club in a situation where they would sell rather than letting his contract run down.
