Davis set for Derby bow

Derby defender Claude Davis should be fit to make his Rams debut in tomorrow’s opening Barclays Premier League game against Portsmouth at Pride Park.

Davis, a £3m buy from Sheffield United last month, was withdrawn as a precaution after sustaining a slight hamstring strain in Saturday’s 2-2 friendly draw with Spanish side Espanyol.

Fellow new recruits Rob Earnshaw, Tyrone Mears, Andy Todd and former Pompey defender Andy Griffin could also make their debuts.
