Boy's football DVD impresses Man Utd talent scouts

A nine-year-old boy has been signed up to Manchester United’s youth academy after his grandfather sent in a DVD of his footballing skills.

Scouts were impressed with Rhain Davis’s ability after they saw the shots of him playing football in Brisbane, Australia, where he has lived for the past five years, a club spokesman said yesterday.

His family are moving back to Cheshire and he has been invited to join the Premiership club’s prestigious youth academy along with around 20 boys of his age group.

Rhain told The Sun: “Being here has been brilliant so far. The best part has been meeting a lot of the players, like Wayne Rooney.”

His mother Leah said: “He has hardly taken off his United shirt since he was invited over. It’s a dream come true for him.”

The eye-catching footage was taken at his club in Brisbane, Redlands United, where his father Mark has helped coach some of the youth teams.

The club has a good luck message to the nine-year-old on their website, which says how proud they are of having a player at Manchester United.

The footage of the young midfielder’s talents on the pitch playing for his under-10 side also proved a hit among football fans after it was posted on internet site YouTube.
