Bordeaux interested in Charlton defender

French side Bordeaux are on the trail of Charlton defender Souleymane Diawara.

The 28-year-old Senegal international, who was signed from Sochaux last summer for £3.7m by then Addicks manager Iain Dowie, has been targeted by Bordeaux coach Laurent Blanc.

“It is true, he is our priority,” Bordeaux chairman Jean-Louis Triaud told French newspaper L’Equipe.

“We are in talks with Charlton about a definitive transfer. Diawara has a big advantage as he knows Ligue 1 perfectly well.

“We are improving and we hope to settle that case quite quickly, but he would not be able to join us before Le Championnat starts.”

Current Charlton boss Alan Pardew may not be in a hurry to sell, however, having claimed no more players will be leaving The Valley ahead of the new season.
