Allardyce offers Barton silver lining

Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce finally landed Joey Barton after selling him the dream of winning trophies on Tyneside.

The 24-year-old put pen to paper on a five-year deal last night after the Magpies increased their offer to £5.8m to resolve a wrangle over a £300,000 payment from Manchester City.
