Milan admit defeat in battle to buy Shevchenko
Chelsea are not willing to sell Andriy Shevchenko this summer, according to AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani.
The Rossoneri are reportedly interested in trying to lure the Ukrainian back to the San Siro just 12 months after he left for Chelsea in a £30m deal.
But Galliani has admitted the Premiership club are not interested.
He said: "Sheva was transferred a year ago for an important amount of money and I don't think Chelsea will be willing to sell him 12 months later.
"In fact, 15 days ago, (Chelsea chief executive) Peter Kenyon came to Milan's headquarters and told me that Shevchenko is not for sale. He also will not arrive on loan.
"Sheva is part of the history of Milan and he is saddened to have left. Has he (Shevchenko) told me that he regrets it? I will not answer that."
Having been rebuffed in their bid to sign Shevchenko, Milan have turned their attention to Barcelona's Samuel Eto'o and Arsenal's France striker Thierry Henry.
"We will have to wait until the Spanish league finishes to ask Real Madrid and Barcelona if they are ready to put on the market some of their players," Galliani added.
"We will ask Barcelona for Eto'o although we don't know if he is on the market. Henry is a player that I and our coach (Ancelotti) like a lot."
