Dion Dublin signs one-year deal with Norwich

Dion Dublin has ended speculation about his future by signing a new one-year contract with Norwich.

Dion Dublin has ended speculation about his future by signing a new one-year contract with Norwich.

The former England striker, 38, was a massive hit at Carrow Road last season after arriving on a free transfer in September and finished runner-up to Darren Huckerby in the player of the year awards.

There had been question marks over his future, though, with the journey from his midlands home to Norwich a factor.

But Dublin has pledged himself to the Canaries for another season and told the club’s official website: “I’m very pleased to be re-signing for a club I feel very at home with.

“Hopefully, next season can be the successful one we all want as the last one wasn’t. We have the potential, but we have to stop talking about it and do it.”

QPR winger Lee Cook insists he is “happy” to stay at Loftus Road, despite persistent rumours of Premiership interest.

The 24-year-old had a huge influence in keeping Rangers in the Championship last season, and his consistently fine form saw him linked with a number of top-flight clubs.

But Cook said: “I am happy here. I want to stay at QPR.

“Anything can happen between now and August 31 (when the transfer window closes), but I didn’t sign an improved contract last summer just to go and leave one year on.

“Money talks, and if the club accept a bid for me, then it is out of my hands.

“But I have lived part one of the dream of playing for the club I supported as a boy, and the next step is to play for the Rs in the Premiership.”

Hull boss Phil Brown has named Brian Horton as his new assistant manager.

Horton, who managed the Tigers between 1984 and 1988, signed a 12-month rolling contract.

Brown told the club’s official website: “I hope it’s an appointment that does create a lot of interest among Hull City fans.

“He was successful during his previous time at the club and I’m sure that will be key next season. It will be key to performances and results. I’m bringing a winner on board and that is important.”
