Tearful Lennon ready for exit

Celtic skipper Neil Lennon admitted he had had an emotional week after announcing he was leaving the club in the week they won the title.

Lennon lifted the SPL trophy after his side lost 3-1 to Hearts at Celtic Park.

Moments before he was presented with the silverware by former Hoops hero Lubomir Moravcik, he told BBC Radio Scotland: "I have been crying for a couple of days about things but I'm not too bad today.

"I have no regrets about my time here at all and the time is right.

"I would like to thank everyone for the great time I have had in Scotland, I have really enjoyed it."

Lennon insisted the defeat would not take anything away from the title party.

He said: "We played quite well and had plenty of chances. The boys have had a long week celebrating but they put on a show. The result didn't go for us but it's all academic."

Hearts assistant head coach Stephen Frail was delighted his side had ignored Celtic's title celebrations to claim three points in their race for a UEFA Cup spot.

Frail said: "I said before the game we can't concern ourselves with other teams if they are having a party.

"Celtic have won the league, they deserve their party and I'm sure they will enjoy it. We are enjoying winning this game."
