Staunton hopes Germany win remaining matches
Steve Staunton said today that he wants to see Germany win every game, with the exception of the Irish clash, for the remainder of the Euro 2008 qualification campaign.
Staunton said he feels that last night's win over the Czech Republic puts them in the position of probable group winners, and makes the Czechs a more realistic target for Ireland to overtake.
Staunton also revealed that Stephen Ireland is likely to be fit for Wednesday's match with Slovakia but that doubts surround Shay Given.
The gaffer said that his young side will face a stern test on Wednesday night: "It's down to ourselves, to what we do. The Slovaks are not going to be easy. We know it's going to be a big test for us.
"We've some tough games in the group but this young squad is growing stronger day by day, week by week, month by month. The more criticism they get, it's making them stronger so things are looking good," he said.
