Giggs left out of Utd XI

Ryan Giggs was a surprise absentee from the Manchester United starting line-up to face Lille at Old Trafford.

United’s controversial first-leg match-winner was only among the substitutes, as John O’Shea was given a spot in a five-man midfield that had Wayne Rooney on its left-hand side.

With Patrice Evra ruled out, Mikael Silvestre was preferred to Gabriel Heinze at left-back, while Lille, a goal behind and still nursing an acute sense of grievance, were able to recall star man Kader Keita.
