Newcastle boss Glenn Roeder was forced to contend with a flu virus as he named his side to face Middlesbrough.

Nolberto Solano was included after missing training through illness yesterday, but Damien Duff was sidelined in one of three changes to the team which lost 1-0 at Wigan last Sunday.

Charles N'Zogbia was recalled in place of Duff, while Kieron Dyer, back after his own bout of flu, and James Milner came in for Paul Huntington and Antoine Sibierski.

Boro keeper Mark Schwarzer replaced Brad Jones following a back problem and Stuart Parnaby lined up at right-back with Abel Xavier on the bench as he was nursed back from a hamstring injury.
