Chelsea were still waiting for the results of scans on Michael Ballack’s injured thigh today after the German captain became their latest injury casualty.
The Barclays Premiership champions are already without injured England midfielder Joe Cole and left-back Ashley Cole and there is also a doubt over the fitness of Mikel Jon Obi.
