Warnock: No Horsfield giveaway
Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock has warned prospective buyers they will not be allowed to sign striker Geoff Horsfield on the cheap.
Horsfield’s hopes of a surprise move to Celtic now appear to have fallen through with manager Gordon Strachan turning his attentions to Burnley’s Kyle Lafferty.
Although the transfer-listed Horsfield has no future at Bramall Lane, Warnock is adamant any interested club will have to pay the going rate for a player who cost £1.2m (€2.5m) in last May.
“We will not be giving Geoff away for nothing, definitely not,” Warnock told the Sheffield Star.
“I’m sure he won’t have a problem finding somewhere, but it seems Celtic no longer want him.
“I don’t know what has changed their mind, but if they’ve gone for the lad from Burnley, I can’t see them going for Geoff as well.”
