Stokes set for Sunderland medical
Irish forward Anthony Stokes was undergoing a medical at Sunderland today, according to a report in the Sunderland Echo.
The Arsenal striker, who scored 16 goals in 18 games while on loan with Scottish Premier League outfit Falkirk, had also been linked with a move to Premiership strugglers Charlton.
The Black Cats are hoping to clinch a £2m (€3m)-plus deal for the 18-year-old striker.
Should a deal go through Stokes will be Roy Keane’s third signing of the January transfer window.
Keane has signed Carlos Edwards from Luton and taken Jonny Evans on loan from Manchester United.
