FA overturn Sheffield Utd red card appeal

Sheffield United defender Claude Davis will miss tonight’s Carling Cup tie against Birmingham after failing with an appeal to have a red card overturned by the Football Association.

Davis was dismissed in Saturday’s Premiership match at Everton after bringing down striker Andrew Johnson.

The Blades appealed to the FA on the grounds of wrongful dismissal, however their claim was rejected and Davis, 27, was instructed to serve a one-match ban with immediate effect.
